What is the General Charges card for?

The purpose of issuing a church credit card with the name "General Charges" on it is intended exclusively for recurring purchases--things like software (zoom, planning center, clearstream), autopay items that don't charge a credit card fee, and other purchases like that.  

The reason a general card exists is that when a staff member leaves the organization, the credit card with their name on it is cancelled.  If any recurring charges are on the the card that is cancelled, it can take a great deal of time and energy to update the payment method on all those important things that the church needs to ensure stay active.  By using the general charges card that is never a concern.    

In a perfect world that card in never used for one-time purchases, amazon, or anything of any kind.  It isn't really intended to ever be given out to people to use for purchasing.  Should the church want a multi purpose card that is able to be given out, please order a separate card with a different generic name and then keep the General Charges card number as confidential as possible so that the likelihood of compromise is slim to none.
